Original by Gene Clark....was made popular by This Mortal Coils ' version years later

If you like CSNY, The Byrds, and Eagles....its a must have imho.
From wiki...some comments by music mags:
In October 1974, Billboard declared the album to be "a magnificent effort" with Clark's "usual superb mix of country and rock tunes, his melodic vocals and his beautiful set of songs."[34] Retrospective reviews of No Other have been likewise overwhelmingly positive. AllMusic's Thom Jurek praised the album; in a five-star review, Jurek called it "a sprawling, ambitious work that seamlessly melds country, folk, jazz-inflected-gospel, urban blues, and breezy L.A. rock in a song cycle that reflects the mid-'70s better than anything from the time, yet continues to haunt the present with its relevance."[1] The Vinyl District reviewer Michael H. Little described the album as "deeply spiritual," "pure ear candy," and "a lush, lovely and even visionary work," awarding the album an A grade.[33] The Guardian hailed No Other as "One of the greatest albums ever made... Initially celebrated for its obscurity, No Other is now celebrated for its magnificence. It was in every way a magnum opus: epic, sprawling, poetic, choral, rococo.
This is a great song, I'm gonna have to check out the rest of the album.

@Catfish Love that video!

So I'm on Mastodon and someone on there is asking about who modern guitar "gods" would be, like guys that everyone knows as guitar players. They say last one was probably Slash. Some other names in the comments come up like Tom Morello. I say Buckethead and they go "was thinking about him but realized I never head a note he's played." So I'm like "well, it's your lucky day, listen to this" So yeah this is also what I'm listening to. I wouldn't play this song regularly just to listen to it since it's more a showcase of his guitar playing skills (I'm more into the psychedelic funk stuff he does), but it's pretty cool nonetheless:

Buckethead - "Soothsayer (live)"

I am not too familar with this band, but I think that might have hit the best choice. I checked DDD, and was shocked that the lack of even one modern guitarist listed in their Top 200.

I think if you click on the link that says "Watch on YouTube" you can see it. If not, here's a different performance of that song. Not as good but still damn good: (edit: actually, after listening some more, this is a really good version...)
