What are some of the bands that have impressed you over the span of many years and have also made excellent, consistent and also consecutive albums during that time? Feel free to include different/alternate album cover art where possible, as well as live albums if you like, too.

I'll get started with one of my favorite bands for quite a long time now!

Though I just discovered them a few years ago, of course I'm going to pull a Sparks-plug on you. ;D

From 1972 to present day they have consistently put out albums. The albums have varied from one another in style and substance, but not only have they discovered new genres in their time, they have perfected each and every one of them. The only significant time between the release of an album was about four years - from 1989 to 1994. But they were working on a couple of film projects at the time, and kind of branching out.

Loads of people still think they're English - but they're actually from Los Angeles, California. The band is led by two brothers, Ron & Russell Mael. They have seen tons of changes in their lineup over the years - but this is because the bros Mael have music to make, and it absolutely has to be to their standards. ;D

Sparks have 22 albums, to date.
Their last album was a radio drama based on what would have happened if Ingmar Bergman found his way in Los Angeles. It debuted in Sweden, and was called "The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman".

Tons of unreleased stuff has been floating around the internet for years.
I have been lucky enough to find/distribute an assload of bootlegged material.

Cheap Trick have never made a bad album (with the exception of The Doctor)

All these albums came out in a row and all are great, the list goes on and on...and to this day they are putting out great music.

I think Rush fits this category...The music might not be consistent, but putting out great albums/music is consistent. They are still truckin today...

Some of the great Punk bands, needless to say, there work has always been great (special notice to bad religion, formed in the later 1970's on the tail end of the original punk movement)

Pennywise (no longer than 3 years between albums since 1991)
Bad Religion (15 albums since 1982)
NOFX (11 albums since 1988)
