Considered to be one of the masterpieces of late 70's fusion,
modern fusion, I'd have to agree with that. There is not a wasted
note on this classic. Up there with Brand X's
Moroccan Roll
Mahavishnu's
Birds of Fire, Romantic Warrior more so blends
prog lines in with its jazzy fusion and fiery rock splays. Stanley Clarke
astonishes on bass, it is incredible to hear his playing here. Al di Meola
geared his instrument w/ astute embellishment lines to a place of
timeless space. Lenny White provides some of the best drumming in
modern fusion along with Billy Cobham w/ Mahavishnu and Phil Collins
w/ Brand X.. Chick Corea wraps it with brilliant keyboards and synths,
while more importantly staying within the tight structures established by
the band. There is so much going on here that it bears repeated listens.
