After setting the art crowd, progrockers, the Bowie--Bebop Deluxe fans w/
the 'Roxy Burn' for over a almost a decade, Bryan Ferry took the keys to
the black sleek car that wasn't there on the front cover of the second lp
and drove out of showroom and right into the new decade, the 80's.
These art rockers engineered an album that set the bar for the 'new romantics'
and many others that had rolled out their new models for several yrs. It was
the perfect vehicle for the lead singer, and helped catapult his solo career. While
not my favorite, like the output from 1973-75 w/ some of the '79 Manifesto
thrown in for good measure, it certainly sounded masterful in 1982. Having
not listened to this for quite a measure of years, it is surprising how sweet it
sounds, another great multimix and better, it has the royal blood of a classic,
having dated not atall. My main regret was the muzzle on Manzanera's guitar
lines, which with a little more horsepower would have made this spectacular.
