If it were posed as "Which band is more talented musically?" I would pick DT.

When it comes to the song, I'll take Maiden in this one.

I'd lament it if I didn't point out that I think "The Dark Eternal Night" is the worst song Dream Theater has written since since their debut.

I can agree, I was just picking out a random song. If I were to choose any other song or songs, I would have chosen

-Hollow Years (preferable the live version)
-Count of Tuscany
-Beyond This Life (also live version, it has that wonderful solo with the drums, piano and guitar)
-Anything off of Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
-Octavarium

Even if we were just talking Dickenson drivel I'd still say Maiden.

I say Iron Maiden, just 'cause they sound more genuine.
Dream Theater has some very good songs, but they sound too artificial. It's something I often feel when I listen to "progressive" bands. Their music lacks in spontaneity, sometimes.

Two great songs, by two great bands. BUT, which band would you consider to be....better than the other, or perhaps both are great for different reasons. Both fall under the metal category.

Really kind of hard to tell what was being asked here. Song vs Song or Band vs Band?
