My favorite is the dirty gritty southern blues of pre 80s ZZ Top I'm also a fan of the mighty Lynryrd Skynyrd, The Outlaws, Molly Hatchet ( debut is amazing) Black Oak Arkansas and The Allman Brothers. Johnny Winter's another ...
Just KILLER texas blues rock from Johnny.

Poll Response

Thanks for all the great responses to this poll. I did miss The Marshall Tucker Band, which I regret, because they are one of my favorites. Pre crash Skynyrd is some of my favorite music. I still listen to it all the time, as well as a lot of the other music mentioned in this thread.

"I'm heading down the highway, got my suitcase by my side."
"Blue skies hangin over my head, I got five hundred miles to ride."
"Headin down to Memphis town, gonna play a late night show."
"Hope the people's already there, 'cause the boys are already to go."

Yeah, when I talk about Skyrnrd I am talking about the pre-cash era also. Another great release is the hard to find BLACK HORSE - S/T a little known Texan gem well worth the hunt.

Will be checking them out after I put my son to bed. I found the album on YT, but doubt the video will stay up long.

Pre-crash Skynyrd is one of the great rock bands of all time. The new Skynyrd though can crank out some good tunes now and then. Vicious Cycle was a damn good album, just not on the high level the original could do. Shame we didn't get to really hear what Steve Gaines could really bring to the band.

I agree, I particularly love One More From The Road. What an amazing live LP. One that I have on vinyl, BTW.
