Re: Bloodrock

Don't get me wrong guys, I don't dislike the band, but there is sooo many more better proto-metal/hard rock/heavy psych releases from the early 1970's. IMO, rather eclectic and abrading. An aquired taste(?)

^^ This.
There are some better bands than Bloodrock, but they are good enough to listen to them from time to time.

I've been totally immersed in the first four albums for the last several days. They are all dynamite: well put-together with a wealth of talent, great dynamic and many songs that have held up (and are still highly relevant) to this day. To paraphrase one poster on YouTube, it took balls that clank to write some of these lyrics! They hit hard, yet still have that prog edge and even a jazzy side. And Rutledge had the pipes! Well-known and well-respected... or not: IMO Bloodrock is one of the best American rock bands of that era.

RIP Steve Hill, Bloodrock founder and keyboardist, who passed away Sept. 12 from leukemia complications.

Breach Of Lease from Bloodrock 3

Cold and everybody’s sleeping,
Sacred child held on the wall,
All the Gods are now preparing,
For the feast that waits us all.

God’s great shadow is the oceans,
Shall he run, or lease the tide,
Pierce my heart with cast iron arrows,
Let my death be where I hide.

Ummmm! ooooooo!

The Lord has promised all his children,
He was gonna take back his world someday,
With fire, plague and famine,
oooo! He was gonna take it all away,
Well, it’s gettin’ mighty cold,
Where do we go from here?

Listen for the endless thunder,
Pray for night to never cease,
Man has disobeyed his leaders,
Man has sorely breached his lease.

It’s strange, it’s strange, so very strange!
Where do we go from here?
