Regarding the glam turn off - quite a few bands (particularly of that era) are better listened to than watched! Obviously, there's some bands where neither is better!
Regarding
The Sweet in particular I read a article in
Classic Rock magazine about 10 years ago that the band
didn't have a large female following back in the early 1970s 'glam era' because apparently many young women at that time where 'confused about the way they looked' with clean washed long hair and face make-up like women along with Steve Priest the bass player who sometimes wore 'hot pants' and high heels on stage
ha ha ha.... I'm not knocking the Sweet cos I was a teenager at the time and the way they looked didn't bother me and I have many Sweet cds but a few days ago I bought a new Sweet x3 cd compilation cd and when I mentioned it to my wife who was a teenager in the early 1970s herself she told me that she never liked that group they all looked weird?.
