Hard to pick only 12,,,but these are probabaly the ones I listen to the most over the last 50 years or so....and still play ...no particular order. The list would probably change in a month.

I went over because I wasn't sure if punk, industrial or funk counted. I would have put Jimi Hendrix, but except for the album with Band of Gypsies, I'd consider him a British band since 2/3rds of the Experience are British. I mean, if the Mac don't count...

Good point made about Jimi Hendrix and Experience. Although several hodgepodge studio albums were released after his death, The Jimi Hendrix Experience is widely considered his best work and Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding contributed to recordings on some of those posthumously released albums as well.
