Great band.....saw them in 1969 at IU Bloomington IN for $3.50....still called CTA then.
Been a fan since then and sadly I agree that after Kath died they never were quite the same though they started writing more 'pop and love tunes' even before he was gone.
Lamm and Cetera wrote a lot of their early songs along with Kath ( some by Pankow ) so that element was always there.
Kath was a brilliant guitarist and had a great gritty voice. Hendrix once said Kath was one of his favorite guitar players.
I have never listened to X or Xl....should do that today.

Actually playing all me John Mayall stuff-but gave my 88's some hammer with this cheery number earlier.
