What are your top 15 favorite guitar solos of all time?

(I'm going to try to limit this to only one solo per guitarist, otherwise two thirds of my list would be from Randy Rhoads)

1. Free Bird- Lynyrd Skynyrd/Gary Rossington & Allen Collins
(This may not be the most original of choices but I never want this solo to ever end)
2. Mr. Crowley- Ozzy Osbourne/Randy Rhoads (The version from the "Tribute" album is best)
3. Sweet Child O' Mine- Guns N' Roses/Slash
4. Growing On Me- The Darkness/Justin & Dan Hawkins (Just something about this solo really hits hard)
5. Ball and Biscuit- The White Stripes/Jack White (Not just one but three of Jack's manic solos)
6. Still Loving You- Scorpions/Rudolf Schenker
7. Don't Tell Me You Love Me- Night Ranger/Brad Gillis
8. Innuendo- Queen/Brian May (such unique solos in this song)
9. Champagne Supernova- Oasis/Noel Gallagher
10. Prisoner of Society- The Living End/Chris Cheney

11. Kickstart My Heart- Mötley Crüe/ Mick Mars (I'm a sucker of the talk box)
12. Kurenai- X Japan/hide & Pata (The version off "The Last Live" is the best)
13. Master of Puppets- Metallica/Kirk Hammett & James Hetfield
14. Comfortably Numb- Pink Floyd/David Gilmour

15. Bullfrog Blues- Rory Gallagher (any live version will do really)

Depending on the song and solo of course. Some guys are really good at giving the guitar it's own voice and can be more moving than the actual melody or words.

Stratovarius ~ Liberty comes to mind..:phones:

Maybe it's just me but I don't get guitar solos? They are really just space fillers if you ask me

Then you definitely don't feel the emotion behind them, do you play the guitar?
If you played the guitar you'd have a better understanding, there's nothing better than creating or listening to an amazing guitar solo.

Haha screw extra space. Keep all songs under 3 minutes and all the ADD kids will love you.

Naa I can see some purpose for guitar solos but just for like 8 bars or so, not the excessive oddesys. Basically guitar solos for me are rather like improvised jazz. They can sound cool but in the end they all sought of sound the same and can't really compare to a good motif or repeated melody.
