We did get to hear a piece from the new album that in the beginning reminded me of Eruption by Eddie VanHalen but then it became 100x better. I soooooo want to hear that piece again! It was amazing! All in all, well worth the $$$ and time to go.
I was there too - great show. Sure, I miss Brad Delp but Tommy Decarlo and David Victor did a bang up job. The only song they didn't play that I wanted to hear was "A Man I'll Never Be".

100 times better than Eruption...??

I don't think any Boston guitar piece I've ever heard can rival Eddie in his prime and Eruption is his signature solo.

I am glad some of you have seen Boston recently and enjoyed the show, but I am comfortable with my stance. I won't go see them and won't buy the new album because without Delp they can never be the Boston I like. Sorry but that is my take on it.

Be honest have they even come close to their first two records?? Third Stage was decent but already the decline in the band was evident.

anyone remember that Barry Goudreau album from 1980, with Delp singing quite a bit on it. I have 2 copies of that on vinyl, and that record is the closest any of them ever came to the first 2 Boston albums.

I'd say you're right about that. Third Stage was good, but after 7 or 8 years or whatever, there wasn't one ounce of anything different in their sound or style. Seems if they were gonna make an album pretty much like their first two we shouldn't have had to wait so long for it.
I saw them the other night and have to admit I was skeptical when I bought the tickets but they really delivered. Not having Brad Delp is a big hole to fill but Tommy Decarlo, david Victor, and the rest of the band did a great job handling all the vocals.

Agreed. For many, many years, I honestly thought that Dreams WAS a Boston tune that just never made it on any album.

You guys have no idea what your talking about. Brad Delp is on the album, so the album has more Brad Delp than Walk On. It pisses me off when people are all "its not the same without Brad" when he's on the freakin album!
